Pa., Ohio to resume full SNAP benefit payments soon

Harrisburg, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) have restarted issuing full November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit payments following the end of the government shutdown Wednesday night.

Benefits are going out and should be paid to all Pennsylvania SNAP recipients by the end of the week, according to DHS. ODJFS says it is beginning the fund issuance process, but does not have an exact date for Ohio recipients yet.

“I again want to extend my deepest gratitude to our food banks, food pantries, and every Pennsylvanian who showed the true meaning of community through this crisis,” said DHS Secretary Val Arkoosh. “I am relieved we can finally get these critical benefits out, and I urge those who are able to continue to support our charitable food network as they stabilize and restock to continue their essential work. While the federal government has resumed operations, the effects of this shutdown will last.”…
