Durham Residents: Thanksgiving Holiday Brings Changes to City Services and Facility Hours

The City of Durham has announced changes to city services for Thanksgiving. The holiday will be observed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, 2025. Most city offices, including City Hall and non-emergency facilities, will be closed on these days. Residents should plan for any city services before the holiday.

Environmental and Street Services administrative offices will be closed on both Thursday and Friday. Curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections scheduled for Thursday will move to Friday, November 28. The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and Household Hazardous Waste Center will be closed on Thursday and Saturday. These facilities will be open on Friday.

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) will close its administrative office and all facilities on Thursday and Friday. Recreation centers will close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26.
