EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An abandoned dog may soon be looking for his new forever home just days after staff at Evansville Animal Care and Control found him tied near a sign just outside of their facility. The dog, King, was found tied up on Veterans Day. Animal Care and Control director Missy Mosby says while the shelter was closed for the holiday, staff members were present caring for animals. King was quickly discovered by staff members and taken inside.
While King was dumped, Mosby says police are not involved. She is unsure if it was the owner who abandoned him or a Good Samaritan who brought him to the building. An owner has yet to come forward, shifting the focus from what happened to preparing King for a new home.
EPD says someone attempted to adopt dog before shelter break-in
“He’s a loveable pup. He loves to play,” says Mosby. “He’s just a very active dog. But he would, it would be nice to have a fenced-in yard for him and make sure that he does have a place to run freely.”
Per the shelter’s policy, there is a 4-day hold placed on stray animals. Once that hold is released, King would then be up for adoption. Mosby says those interested in adopting King and other animals at the shelter can stop by Animal Care and Control or call the facility…
