Lumbee Tribe recognizes Lowery, Parkton’s 1st Native American mayor-elect

PARKTON — The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina recently formally recognized and extended its commendation to Edward Lowery, an enrolled citizen of the Lumbee Tribe, on his historic election as mayor of Parkton. His election represents a significant milestone as the first time a Native American has been chosen to serve as mayor in the town’s history.

Lowery is a resident of the Parkton community and has demonstrated steadfast dedication to civic service and community advancement. His leadership reflects the Lumbee Tribe’s enduring values of integrity, perseverance, and collective responsibility.
