These men were detained a gunpoint by an off-duty cop in Clovis, police say

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The two men who were detained at gunpoint by an off-duty police officer on Tuesday morning have been named, according to Clovis Police.

Officials with the Clovis Police Department say around 6:30 a.m., they received a 911 call from a home in the 3200 block of Robinwood Avenue near Dewolf and Barstow avenues.

The caller said two men who were identified by police as 38-year-old Terry O’Brien and 57-year-old Richard Jones, both from Fresno County, were looking into parked cars and going into the backyards of homes.

As officers were responding, an off-duty police officer who was already in the area detained both suspects at gunpoint. When on-duty officers arrived, they took both men into custody.

Police say O’Brien is accused of conspiracy to commit vehicle burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of a switchblade, and identity theft…
