RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) – The mayor of Rutherford County is under investigation for allegedly abusing his power to launch a smear campaign against another public official, as well and separately to make money, according to a complaint sent to the local ethics committee.
A copy of the complaint obtained by WSMV4 alleges that Mayor Joe Carr used his office to try to sell honey for personal profit, and it also accuses him of “orchestrating a politically motivated smear campaign” against Rutherford County Property Assessor Robert Mitchell, who the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now investigating.
