Cumberland crash victim identified as 25-year-old woman

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — The driver who was killed in a crash earlier this week in Cumberland has been identified.

Police said Emma Bates, 25, of Lincoln, was found dead inside a car on West Wrentham Road late Tuesday night. The car veered off the road, hit a large tree and caught fire, according to police.

“On behalf of the Cumberland Police Department, I offer my condolences to Emma’s family, friends, and loved ones in this incredibly tragic situation,” Chief Matthew Benson said in a press release.
