Friends, family of Mobile dragging victim leave court disappointed when defendant waives hearing

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – About 20 friends and family members arrived in court Thursday in solidarity for a man who died last month after a vehicle dragged him nearly two miles.

But they left disappointed when the man charged with reckless murder, Jacob Alexander Cross, gave up his right to a preliminary hearing. The case now will go to a grand jury, but supporters of victim Sam Walker said they were hoping to learn more about the 57-year-old Mobile man’s horrific death on Oct. 8.

“It does move it along, but it’s still a lot of questions,” said his daughter, Samantha Walker. “I really don’t know what happened. So, it’s still not at rest. My heart still has to hurt, because I don’t know what happened.”…
