A Chicago man was arrested Wednesday night after multiple agencies were involved in a high speed pursuit across Grundy, Kendall, and DeKalb counties, according to the Morris Police Department.
Ottawa police had initially tried to stop a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Keaon Johnson when he stopped and fled on foot before allegedly stealing the suspect vehicle. Morris police were made aware of the stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on I-80 at around 8:30 p.m. and later located the vehicle attempting to get gas at an Amoco on Hampton Drive. The vehicle fled the scene quickly on northbound Route 47, almost striking an officer.
Morris police and Grundy County Sheriff’s deputies pursued the vehicle on Route 47 toward Yorkville when Kendall County agencies joined the pursuit. The vehicle traveled on Route 34 into DeKalb and LaSalle counties before stop sticks were deployed, and the vehicle was stopped in Somonauk at around 10:00 p.m. Johnson was taken into custody, and officers found a glass pipe and brass knuckles in the vehicle…
