CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — City leaders broke ground Thursday on a $30 million overhaul of four parks in the Hillcrest community, launching a slate of long-promised improvements aimed at revitalizing one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods.
The project includes a new trailhead that will connect Hillcrest directly to the Harbor Bridge pedestrian and bike path, along with an outdoor amphitheater, pavilion, ball field and covered basketball courts. City officials said the upgrades are designed to bring new recreational access and momentum to an area that has waited years for major reinvestment.
A key part of the plan is a new $10 million aquatic center, which city officials said is expected to open in spring 2027. Most other components of the parks package are scheduled to wrap up within the next year…
