El Paso diabetes rates remain higher than U.S. average

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Friday is World Diabetes Day, a global health campaign held annually on Nov. 14 to raise awareness about diabetes, its impact, and the importance of accessible care and prevention.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), El Paso remains above the national average in diagnosed diabetes. Approximately 15.3 percent of El Paso County adults have diabetes, which is higher than the 12.3 percent in Texas and the 11.6 percent in the United States.
