Detroit house explodes, reduced to rubble on day new tenants were supposed to move in

DETROIT (WWJ) — There’s a pile of rubble where a house once stood after an explosion, Thursday afternoon, on Detroit’s west side.

Authorities said no one was injured when a single-story house blew up in the 19400 block of Forrer Street, in the area of 7 Mile Rd. and Greenfield.

Reporting from the scene, WWJ’s Tim Pamplin said: “This house exploded with gusto, sending what remains of the home skyward — up into trees, up onto the rooves of neighboring homes, damaging some of those homes. The headline here: No injuries to report, amazingly.”…
