Police identify person of interest in Evansville dog theft

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Police say they have identified a person of interest in the break-in and dog theft at Evansville Animal Care and Control.

Police say a person who had been denied an adoption returned to the shelter, smashed the glass door and stole a dog. The break-in forced the shelter to close that same day. As the investigation continues staff are hoping the dog is safe and in good condition.

“As of today, they have not been able to locate that person, so we don’t know the status of the dog that was taken,” Missy Mosby said. “Hopefully it’s being well taken care of. Very unfortunate situation, just hope that the dog is safe.”…
