IMPD: Arrest made after east side shooting left person in critical condition

INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been arrested after a reported shooting left a person in critical condition on the east side of Indianapolis on Wednesday morning.

According to a news release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 49-year-old Ronald Washington was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon on a preliminary charge of attempted murder.

IMPD: Man in critical condition after east side shooting

At around 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, IMPD officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 6000 block of Windsor Drive. According to previous reports, a man was located at the scene with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

The release said after the shooting, detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and camera footage. The man involved in the shooting was eventually identified as Washington, who reportedly left the area before officers arrived.
