Pennsylvania Man Shot by His Own Dog in Bedside Accident

A Pennsylvania man was rushed to the hospital after his dog accidentally fired a shotgun that had been left on a bed. Yep—you read that right. According to the Shillington Police Department, the strange (and scary) incident happened just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night on the 300 block of State Street in Berks County.

Police said that when officers first got the call, it wasn’t clear who the shooter was. But as they were racing to the scene, dispatchers updated them… the dog was involved. Further investigation showed that the 53-year-old owner had been cleaning his shotgun when he briefly set it down on the bed. That’s when his dog jumped up, and in true “man’s best friend” fashion, managed to pull the trigger.

Straight to Surgery

The man was rushed to Reading Hospital, where doctors immediately took him into surgery. Police confirmed that his injuries were serious…..
