Attorneys ‘actively investigating’ after sheriff’s office denies assault allegations

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Attorneys representing two women in a federal lawsuit against Shelby County are responding after the office denied assault allegations.

According to the lawsuit, the women, who were inmates at a female housing facility, were sexually assaulted by a male inmate.

‘Stunning and reckless,’ that’s how the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office describes a federal lawsuit filed against the county.
