Apple is leading the charge toward completely digitized IDs with its latest announcement for travelers.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the tech giant revealed the new Digital ID feature, which enables travelers to upload their passport or qualifying driver’s license details into their Apple Wallet. Apple clarifies, however, that the Digital ID doesn’t substitute for a physical passport and can’t be used for international travel or border crossings in lieu of a passport.
This innovative feature permits more individuals “to create and present an ID in Apple Wallet even if they do not have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID,” the company’s press release stated…
