$170K gift brings back 5-day hot lunch program to senior citizens

A $170,000 donation from the Covenant Health and Community Services Foundation is bringing back daily hot lunches to senior citizens in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Starting Nov. 12 and continuing through Dec. 31, the Council on Aging of West Florida’s congregate meal program clients can pick up food Monday through Friday (except during holidays) at 16 sites in the two counties.

Emily Echevarria, Council on Aging spokeswoman, said the program will receive new federal funding on Jan. 1 and continue the daily hot meals to existing clients.
