A Leesburg woman will appear in court for skip-scanning $25 in food because she could not pay for it all without food stamps.
Surveillance cameras caught 20-year-old Jasmine Fields and her male companion at a self-checkout register in Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., around 10:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department.
In the footage, it seemed she was skip-scanning items before he bagged them. She started by only scanning 6 out of 12 jars of Bertolli alfredo sauce. She did the same with one out of three packets of Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning and two out of three boxes of Great Value rotini pasta.
