Five people were rescued after their sailboat sank hundreds of miles off a North Carolina cape, authorities said.

The incident happened on Friday, Nov. 7, about 260 nautical miles offshore Cape Hatteras, the maritime law enforcement agency stated in a news release.

The victims were from Connecticut and Rhode Island and were headed to the Bahamas when the sailboat, Magic Bus, sank, CT Insider reported. The Coast Guard did not mention what caused the sailboat to sink…
