WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Every November, I enjoy asking people in the WECT newsroom which side dish is their favorite for Thanksgiving. The answers are across the board. Some people say macaroni and cheese (which was never a staple on my family’s table in West Virginia) to sweet potato casserole or stuffing.
I think it’s interesting to see the variance between responses and the reasoning why certain dishes resonate with people. Of course, following the big Thanksgiving dinner, most of those sides end up packed inside a makeshift sandwich.
Gratefully, we don’t have to wait until the evening of Thanksgiving or Black Friday to create a holiday handheld, there are plenty of restaurants already offering their own Turkey Day sandwiches.
