TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County’s school-zone speed cameras have caught more than 44,000 violations since classes began in August, but some drivers say they didn’t even know they were speeding.
The county expanded the camera enforcement program this year to run throughout the entire school day, rather than just during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal. The exact hours vary by school, and the posted speed limits change throughout the day; something many drivers say makes it hard to know when cameras are active.
