Two arrested in Rankin County for major drug trafficking operation

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities in Rankin County arrested a man and a woman in connection to a major drug trafficking operation.

On November 12, 2025, Puckett police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 18. During the stop, authorities said they found 120 pounds of marijuana.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said officers contacted the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the investigation. Rankin County investigators and members of the Rankin/City of Madison Interdiction Task Force began an investigation into the origin of the marijuana. They developed information that a large amount of marijuana was being stored in the Jackson-metro area and being distributed to several locations in Mississippi.

On November 14, 2025, investigators obtained a search warrant for a rented warehouse/office near the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport. A search of the facility led to the discovery of 500 pounds of marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency. The estimated street value of the marijuana is more than $1 million.

According to the sheriff, investigators believe the origin of the marijuana was California. They said the marijuana was being shipped from California to the Jackson-metro area in bulk amounts. Once the marijuana arrived at the rented facility, it would be broken down into smaller amounts and distributed to dealers in Mississippi…
