At approximately 12:22 a.m., MPD officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Axel Ave. for a report of a suspicious person walking in driveways and pulling on car door handles. Officers contacted a caller who gave a detailed description of the suspect in this incident.
Officers remained in the area, checking thoroughly for the suspect. At approximately 1:00 a.m., officers located a suspect matching the description provided by the caller. The suspect was located in the 4400 block of Britta Parkway. Officers attempted to contact the suspect, later identified as Towain T. Young, who initially refused to comply with officers and identify himself. Young was continually reaching into his pockets and was refusing officer orders to show his hands during the initial contact. Young then spontaneously fled from the officer who contacted him, running back to the area of Axel Ave.
An officer with a UAS (drone) arrived on scene and was able to locate Young hiding in a back yard in the 4300 block of Devolis Parkway. Officers also located a loaded handgun with a 30-round extended magazine in the same place that Young was hiding. Ammunition matching what was in the firearm magazine was found on Young’s person…
