Record highs followed by a cold front

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Record highs will be likely on Friday with afternoon highs running 20 degrees warmer than average. Some of the records most likely to be broken include Salina, Russell, and Goodland, where afternoon temperatures could be near 80.

Expect a cold front to drop into the state Saturday, but it won’t have much cold air with it. Afternoon temperatures will remain near 70 before cooling back to the 60s on Sunday. There’ll be no rain when the front comes on through, but winds will shift back to the north.

Next week starts off rather mild with highs in the 60s and 70s, but will start cooling down midweek with scattered showers and storms arriving. The potential of rain is highest on Thursday, and temperatures later in the week will drop back to the 50s…
