WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – One Wichita veteran says his father’s service inspired him to spend 34 years serving in the Army and National Guard.
Wichita native David Carron had a good idea of where he was headed before he graduated high school in 1985.
“My dad was in Vietnam, and I always looked up to his military service. And he always encouraged me, ‘You gotta get out of the house when you graduate.’ And the military looked like the proper thing for me to do,” he said.
Carron trained to be a combat engineer and was soon transferred to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii…
