The town hall offered residents a chance to learn more about the airport’s finance operations, maintenance, planning and development. Many attending the event told FOX31 they are more concerned about the altitude of planes flying over their homes and noise.“There are citizens who have left our city because they could not take the noise” said Westminster City Council member Kristine Ireland.Others complained about the flight schedules.“I do mind that we have flights over us at six in the morning that shake my house” said Jan Stevenson. In September, FOX31 obtained an internal memo from the FAA dated June 10 stating the airport currently leads the National Airspace System in airborne safety incidents.Six days after the memo was sent, the FAA changed the airport’s operating procedures to minimize risk and increase safety.Dahl tells FOX31 the airport adheres to strict safety standards.“We’re a 139 certified airport by the FAA means we do daily inspections of the airport. We do daily certification of all of our services to make sure the airport is safe, efficient” said Dahl.Dahl emphasized that the FAA determines flightpath guidelines.“When you hear things like the FAA has changed the flightpaths or they’ve changed how aircraft operate within the airspace, those are not things that we control but any measure that they can do that increases safety (are) things that we support,” he said. The airport has responded to residents’ demands for an unleaded fuel system. It is scheduled to be operational next month…
