ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — Nine public schools in Albuquerque have improved enough to be taken off the list of facilities that require state oversight. They were taken off of “CSI” status, meaning “Comprehensive Support and Improvement,” and “MRI” status, meaning “More Rigorous Intervention.”
“These schools improved enough that they no longer require intensive oversight,” Superintendent Gabriella Blakey said. “We’re proud of the staff and students at each of these schools for their hard work and for moving the needle on academic performance.”
These nine schools are now considered in good standing after being previously classified as CSI or MRI:
- Armijo Elementary
- Ernie Pyle Middle School
- Jefferson Middle School
- Jimmy Carter Middle School
- John Adams Middle School
- Kit Carson Elementary
- Lavaland Elementary
- Pajarito Elementary
- Sombra del Monte Elementary
Some schools improved their designations. “Barcelona Elementary transitioned from a CSI school to a Targeted Support and Improvement school, indicating that it continues to require support to improve proficiency rates for specific student groups. Barcelona saw growth in reading for English Learners, but historically low performance in reading and math for Students with Disabilities,” APS stated in a news release. “Emerson Elementary also transitioned from a CSI school to a TSI school. The school saw overall growth in reading, but historically low performance in math for Hispanic students. Manzano Mesa Elementary, meanwhile, went from a Traditional school to a Spotlight school, a designation awarded to schools in the top 75% of schools statewide.”…
