A serious incident has occurred near the South Salem Winco area, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. According to a witness account, the pedestrian was hit by a white van while crossing the street, carrying their Winco shopping bags. The traffic light for cross traffic was green at the time of the incident. The driver of the van appeared to be distracted by their phone when the collision occurred. Tragically, the victim appears to be seriously injured or possibly deceased, with a leg or foot dismembered. The extent of further injuries is currently unknown.
