On November 13, 2025, the City of Tucson Housing & Community Development Department issued a public notice about the Shasta Apartments Affordable Rental Development Project. The Shasta Apartments will be built on a 2.37-acre site at 855 West Prince Road, at the southeast corner of West Prince Road and North Fairview Avenue in Tucson, Arizona. The project will include a single three-story building with 100 studio units. These units are intended for low-income adults aged 62 and older. The apartments will be available to households earning between 40% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). There will be 33 units at 40% AMI, 34 units at 50% AMI, and 33 units at 60% AMI. The project will also provide five percent more accessible units than required by law.
Planned amenities include on-site parking, a community center, a fitness room, a walking path, outdoor seating, a community garden, and programs for recreation or education. The estimated cost of the project is $26,227,352.
