Charleston County food drive extended through Nov. 26

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – While the longest government shutdown in U.S. history is coming to an end, the effects on many families could be long-lasting.

A joint effort in Charleston County is working to help families as they face food insecurity due to the extended shutdown that left federal workers without pay and the suspension of vital food assistance benefits.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Charleston County School District, and the Charleston County Public Library are extending a collaborative food drive through Wednesday, Nov. 26, which is just before the Thanksgiving holiday, to help provide citizens with food options…
