Plea deal for man accused of killing state trooper

DANVILLE, Ind. (WIBC/WISH) — With a plea deal reached, a Hendricks County trial for a Missouri man accused of killing an Indiana State Police trooper ended abruptly Friday on its third day.

Eddie Jones, 20, of Sikeston, Missouri, was initially charged with murder, resisting law enforcement, and auto theft in the killing of Trooper Aaron Smith during a high-speed chase in the summer of 2023.
