Lansing write-in candidate for mayor did not vote

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A write-in candidate for Mayor of the City of Lansing did not vote on Nov. 4, despite taking the steps to file as a formal write-in candidate.

Owen Witte received zero certified votes. He says he is not surprised he received no votes because “I didn’t campaign.”

“The reason I ran is because everything I do I want to put my all into it. I have faith in Christ and I knew that if I won or if I lost, it would be because it was something Christ did or did not want me to do,” Witte told 6 News Friday evening.

Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope confirms Witte, 18, did not vote in the election.

“The reason I didn’t vote,” Witte said, “ultimately I knew whoever was elected, it was in God’s hands, and he put that leader there for a reason.”…
