Student injured in second shooting in 18 months at Oakland high school

A teenager was shot on Wednesday at Oakland’s Skyline High School, which has been the scene of previous gun violence, the Mercury News reported.

Two juveniles were arrested, and two firearms were recovered. The victim was listed in stable condition at a hospital as of Wednesday night. Police did not immediately say if the victim or the alleged shooters were students.

“These are our children,” Assistant Oakland Police Chief James Beere said at the scene, according to the Mercury News. “Having access to firearms alone is unbelievable, let alone that violence is occurring in and around our campuses.”…
