Antelope Resident Convicted of Murder in Local Shooting Incident

On November 7, 2025, a jury found Randall Watanabe guilty of first-degree murder, attempted robbery, and several firearm offenses. The case was handled by Supervising Deputy District Attorney Casey Newton from the Major Crimes Unit.

According to the prosecution, Watanabe met Antonio Chacon in Antelope for a drug transaction. Watanabe tried to rob Chacon and shot him as Chacon attempted to leave. Watanabe faces a possible life sentence without parole. Sentencing is set for December 12, 2025, before Judge James Arguelles…
