Are Cleveland’s proposed parking cameras just another way to take cash from suburbanites?

A decade after Cleveland voters resoundingly rejected automated traffic cameras, the city is attempting to bring in a different kind of automated camera, to enforce parking.

Today in Ohio podcast hosts debated Friday whether the move is aimed at easing congestion, as city officials claim, or a revenue scheme more likely to collect from out-of-towners than city residents.

Mayor Justin Bibb is pushing for cameras to ticket parking violators in downtown Cleveland, arguing they’re needed to address double-parking, bus lane blocking, and other issues that gum up the roads…
