LUBBOCK, Texas — Victor Yannis Jr. agreed to plead guilty on Thursday to a federal charge of Carjacking in connection with a carjacking in a Texas Tech parking lot in April of 2022, according to court records.
On April 10, 2022, before 3 a.m. the Texas Tech University Police Department (TTUPD) dispatched an officer to an aggravated robbery that had just occurred in the Zone 3 parking lot at Texas Tech University. A TTUPD officer met with the victim, who reported that he was sitting inside of his carwhen he was approached by a man he did not know.
Yannis knocked on the driver side window of the car before forcibly opening the car door. According to court records, Yannis brandished a knife in his hands and pointed it at the victim. Yannis then ordered the victim to get out of the car and tell him where the car keys were.
