Porchlight prepares to open 70 new supportive housing units on East Washington

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – After 25 years in its Brooks Street building, Porchlight is preparing to move residents into a brand-new permanent supportive housing facility on East Washington Avenue.

The eight-story building will house Porchlight’s administrative offices as well as 70 efficiency apartments. Executive Director Karla Thennes said the move will give residents a fresh start in a space that is entirely new.

“We will have 70 efficiency apartments here for our residents. And then I will have 24 staff people here. And we are so excited,” she said. “Brand new, everything brand new. We can’t wait to move in.”
