WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Friday that a woman charged in the deadly stabbing of her 80-year-old mother will be evaluated for competency.
Angelynn Mock was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday. Instead, the hearing was taken off the docket, and a competency hearing was ordered. This happens when there is reasonable cause to believe that the defendant may presently be suffering from a mental disease or defect.
On Oct. 31, Wichita police were called to a stabbing at a home in the 1500 block of East Crowley. They arrived to find Mock in the street with cuts to her hands. Inside the home, officers found Anita Avers, 80, in her bed with multiple stab wounds. She died at the hospital…
