Weld County town charges $340 for some speeding tickets, despite rule capping them at $40

KERSEY, Colo — Drivers are questioning whether expensive photo radar tickets from a small Weld County town are legal.

The tickets, issued by the Town of Kersey, charge vehicle owners $340 if they’re found speeding 25 miles or more over the posted speed limit along a stretch of Weld County Road 49 near Colorado Highway 34.
