HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Department of Law Enforcement will host a fireworks buyback event on Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at HPD’s training academy in Waipahu.
The possession, distribution and operation of illegal fireworks is a felony of up to $25,000 in fines and up to 10 years in prison, DLE said.

Additionally, under the new law, homeowners, parents and guardians will be held responsible–not just those who light the illegal fireworks.
