Kroger, city will fund free groceries, delivery for these Cincinnati residents

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – Kroger Co. and the city of Cincinnati will fund a pilot program providing free grocery delivery and $100 worth of food to 200 residents of Winton Hills every month, Mayor Aftab Pureval announced in his state-of-the-city address Thursday.

The project “is not only especially important given the uncertainty around federal benefits right now, but it is a thoughtful and critical new model for us to measure when it comes to addressing food accessibility,” Pureval said.

The program is a part of the city’s financial freedom blueprint and has been championed by Councilwoman Anna Albi. The city will pay for the monthly grocery stipend, budgeting $250,000. Kroger will provide the Boost memberships, which allow for free delivery…
