Authorities ask hunters for camera footage as search for Gainesville native continues

The search for a Gainesville native who went missing in the Blood Mountain area of Union County is continuing Saturday, with authorities now turning to local hunters for help.

Charles Hosch, age 67, went missing on Tuesday, Nov. 11. His last known location was the Byron Herbert Reece Trailhead near the border of Union and Lumpkin counties on Blood Mountain.

A statement from the Union County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Nov. 14, said more than 10 agencies were searching the area for Hosch, including the Walasi-Yi Center and the Mountain Crossings parking area. As the search continued Saturday, the sheriff’s office said they are now asking area hunters for game camera footage to help them locate Hosch.

“If you have game cameras on or near the Byron Herbert Reece Trail or surrounding Blood Mountain area, please contact Union County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 706-439-6091,” the sheriff’s office said. “Your trail camera footage could provide critical information to help bring Charles home. Time is critical.”…
