Monks to share culture and peace in Evansville

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A group of monks will be creating a World Peace Sand Mandala in Evansville next Monday.

This is not the first time monks have come to Evansville. The monks are on their 2025 Tashi Kyil Tour, and the monks have events planned from November 17 through November 22. The monks explain they are from Tashi Kyil Monastery in Dehradun, India and came to Evansville to educate the public about the culture and Buddhist practices of Tibet.

According to this website, the World Peace Sand Mandala is drawn on a mythical earth, featuring important images such as The Four Perfect Friends, Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism and Symbols of the World’s Great Religions, with a sole purpose to generate compassion and inner peace, affect purification and healing, symbolize the impermanence of all that exists and encourage everyone in the world to live peacefully together in loving-kindness, compassion and harmony.
