Controversial rezoning request of 20-acre land in Comstock Township draws full house

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Members of the Comstock Township community in Kalamazoo County packed a public hearing Thursday night to speak out against a proposal to conditionally rezone undeveloped land along East H Avenue, to allow for a new multi-apartment community.

The application, filed by Emily Engelhart, Director of Acquisitions for Redwood Living, requests to rezone the 20.02 acres of land at 6787 East H Avenue, from Single-Family Residential to Multiple-Family Residential.

The conditional rezone would allow construction of multi-rental units, on the north side of East H Avenue, west of North 28th Street…
