Public Hearing Scheduled for November on Old 41 Widening Project Affecting Local Residents

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing for the Old 41 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study on November 20, 2025. The hearing will discuss the proposed widening of CR 887 (Old US 41) from US 41 in Collier County to Bonita Beach Road in Lee County. This section is about 2.73 miles long. The project aims to reduce congestion and meet future travel needs as the region grows.

The project has two segments. Segment 1 is 1.55 miles long and runs from US 41 to the Lee County Line in unincorporated Collier County. Segment 2 is 1.18 miles long and extends from the Collier County Line to Bonita Beach Road in the City of Bonita Springs, Lee County. The hearing will present the preferred alternative and the studies completed so far. Community members can give feedback on the project’s location, design, and possible impacts.

Residents can join the hearing online or in person. The online session starts at 5:45 p.m. The in-person open house at the Bonita Springs Recreation Center begins at 5 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m. All participants can submit comments. Project information will be available on the project website and at local sites, including the Bonita Springs Public Library and the FDOT Southwest Area Office, from October 31 to December 1, 2025…
