The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners is donating nine pallets of heavy-duty tarps to the Caribbean American Cultural Group. The donation will support relief efforts in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa. Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica as a Category 5 storm.
The storm caused significant damage, resulting in at least 32 deaths and displacing tens of thousands of people. Many residents are experiencing power outages and communication problems.
