Volunteers give away free Thanksgiving meal amid SNAP confusion

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Hundreds of people lined up early Friday morning for a Thanksgiving “Drop and Go” food giveaway event.

Volunteers say it was one of the largest turnouts they’ve seen in years, and recent SNAP cuts appear to be pushing more families to seek help.

Helpers with the food bank and Arkel Constructors passed out more than 300 boxes packed with holiday staples, including a whole chicken for each household…
