Earlier this week, officials from the Texas Anti-Gang Center – Permian Basin helped apprehend a shooting suspect from Lubbock. The center includes personnel from the Midland Police Department, FBI, and Homeland Security. These agencies worked together after Lubbock Police identified the suspect, Jeffery Porter, age 38, on November 11, 2025.
Porter was last seen traveling south of Lubbock on US Highway 87. Information was sent to the Permian Basin center. With help from Department of Public Safety aircraft, officials located and stopped Porter north of Midland. He was taken into custody without incident.
