Elevator problems plague apartment tower housing senior citizens

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -A senior citizen living in a local apartment complex says one of two elevators has been broken for months, leaving residents to wait and cram into a much smaller one or climb nearly a dozen flights of stairs.

After the other elevator briefly broke down last week, the resident said they became even more concerned for their safety. But they said it didn’t seem as if those in charge of the complex shared that concern.

“I wish I had never moved in there,” said an anonymous resident. “Most of the people who live there have some form of disability. A lot are in wheelchairs or have medical issues like diabetes. We have ambulances showing up regularly for people who have to go to the emergency room.”…
